greetings fellow airsofters...
di ko alam kung re-bluing ba talaga tawag dito.or something else.. I have discovered just lately a good a process which re still dont know what to call..
this process is about restoring your good old AEG recievers to its brand new look..just restored mine..and im very proud to say na the paint is un-scratch-able..
this has been a problem for some of us na merong mga recievers na may engrave markings..kung papano re-store na hindi basta2x na tatanggal yung paint job..unless you have the resources to do so..
this process can be done with ordinary materials found in your home..
just like grilling pork chops and barbecue..
explanation:
habang akoy naka upo sa aking munting mesa na sulyapan ko ang aking mga metal recievers na sira2x na yung pintura.its been a problem for me ever since because I always re-do the paint job of my guns when ever they have so many scratches and in BISAYA term "PAKPAK" na pintura...
then suddenly It came up in my mind yung hinugasan kung kaldero nung nakaraang buwan na ginamit sa pg luto ng kanin dahil Birthday ng anak ko..nahirapan talaga akong tangalin yung itim or soot build up sa kaldero dahil sa kapal nito..I needed to use sand paper just to make the kaldero shiny again inabot yata ako ng isang oras..
that gave me an IDEA on what to do with my recievers...
KALDERO is made of pot metal
some recievers are made of pot metal
so a your metal reciever is like a kaldero
Materials:
- firewood
- cooking oil 1kilo
- industrial paint remover
- kerosene
- tin ICE cream container or any tin container na pwede lagyan ng atleast - 2 kilos of cooking oil
- running water (a nearby gripo) or a running source of clean water
- soap
- NIKKO pure acrylic spray paint (flat black)
first strip of the paint of your recievers using industrial paint remover..make sure there is no paint left..if you need to sand it then it up to you..after you remove all the paint you must brush it with soap and water making sure its clean and without any paint debris.
make a bonfire..make sure that your fire is consistent! ORANGE FLAME! para mas marami ang soot build up...you can do this either in a dirty kitchen with good lighting conditions or outside your home..
improvise a clip or any devise that can hold the reciever that you could free turn it to sides..make sure it does not touch the exterior part of the reciever or it make create flaws on soot build up consistency
place the reciever into open flames without touching your fire wood..observe the soot building up on every side of the receiver..the bigger the flame the more soot in can create..your receiver will be hot enough to burn your skin or to inflict injuries to your skin alway stay as far as you can..
give it atleast 5 minutes each side..until it turns black because of the soot built up and while it still flamming hot you pour cooking oil all over the reciever..this will instantly bond the soot in to the reciever..
make sure that the cooking oil covers everu part of the reciever. then put it back again in open flames until the oil completely evaporate becuase of the heat..this will make the reciever very hot...this is the time you bring the reciever into running water...the instant cooldown will also instantly bond the soot in to the reciever it also hardens it. this time you now have your first coat of accumulated soot that is very hard to remove..even with soup and water..kahit industrial paint remover pa..
the process is some what the same with oil tempering
you can make multiple coatings by doing the process all over again or proceed to the next step
using a tooth brush. clean the receiver again by brushing it with soap and water..let it dry!
from your burnt fire wood out comes coal now disperse the fire so only the hot coal will remain..spray a coating of NIKKO pure acrylic paint into your reciever! one coating is enough...then you can hang it above the hot coal atleast 1 foot away or above for atleast 4 mins
after 4 minutes you can remove it and let it cool
check the results! try to scratch the paint with your nails..
will pics later of the project..
